SMS Terms and Consent
How text messages work, how to opt in, and how to stop.
Program
MyVendbook Alerts sends text messages from [your sending number] to people who opt in. This page is the SMS terms for that program.
What you will get
- Account and service texts you request, such as sign-in codes, restock and visit reminders, repair ticket updates and billing notices.
- Product tips and offers, only if you opt in to those separately.
How to opt in
You opt in by entering your mobile number and checking the unchecked SMS box in Profile & settings > Legal & privacy. The box says: "I agree to receive text messages from MyVendbook at the number I provided, including automated reminders and alerts. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies, up to [8] messages a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. See the SMS Terms and Privacy Policy." We record the date, time and number you consented with.
Opt out and help
Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts. You will get one confirmation and no more. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected]. You can also turn texts off in Profile & settings.
Costs and carriers
Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers include major US carriers and may change.
Privacy
Mobile numbers and opt-in consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Numbers may be shared with our messaging providers only to deliver the texts. See the Privacy Policy.
Texts you send from MyVendbook
Some MyVendbook features open your own phone's messaging app so you can text a host or contact. Those texts come from you, not from MyVendbook. Only text people who expect to hear from you, and honor requests to stop. See Messaging and outreach compliance.
Email Communications and Opt-in
Which emails we send, what needs your consent, and how to unsubscribe.
Types of email
- Account and service emails, such as verification, password reset, security alerts, receipts and important notices. You cannot opt out of these while you have an account.
- Product updates, tips and community digests. These are sent only if you opt in. The checkbox is unchecked by default.
How to opt in
Check the email updates box in Profile & settings > Legal & privacy or at sign-up. We record the date, time and address you consented with and may send a confirmation email asking you to confirm.
How to unsubscribe
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also turn email updates off in Profile & settings > Legal & privacy. We honor requests within 10 business days, and sooner where we can. Service emails continue.
Sender information
Our emails identify us as the sender and include our mailing address: MyVendbook, [mailing address].
We do not sell your email address
We do not sell or rent your email address. See the Privacy Policy.
Messaging and Outreach Compliance
Your responsibilities when you email or text prospects and hosts.
You are the sender
When you use MyVendbook to draft or send cold outreach, emails to hosts, or texts to contacts, you are the sender and responsible for following the laws that apply. MyVendbook provides drafts and tools, not legal advice.
Email (CAN-SPAM and similar laws)
- Do not use misleading names, subject lines or headers.
- Say who you are and include your real business mailing address.
- Include a clear, working way to opt out and honor opt-outs within 10 business days. Do not email anyone who has opted out.
- Only email business contacts you found in good faith, and keep your message relevant to the business. Do not use harvested or purchased lists.
- If you contact people in Canada, the EU or the UK, stricter consent rules (CASL, GDPR, PECR) may apply.
Text messages (TCPA and carrier rules)
- Do not send automated or bulk texts to anyone who has not given prior written consent. Do not use MyVendbook to send bulk or automated texts.
- Texts you send one at a time from your own phone to contacts who expect them, such as a day-before reminder to a host, are your communications. Stop when asked.
- Honor STOP requests right away.
Phone calls
Respect the Do Not Call lists and calling-hour rules. Do not call numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry for sales calls unless an exception applies.
Keep records
Save who you contacted, when and what you said. MyVendbook's outreach log can help.
Our right to act
We may remove content, limit sending or suspend accounts that appear to violate these rules.
